Happy 318th Detroit! You don’t look a day over 313. Birthdays are all about new beginnings, and Detroit is undergoing a one day at a time rebirth – complete with a do-over that is long overdue. Detroit’s ‘when the going gets tough‘ tenacity has given its residents an ability to overcome and adapt despite the circumstance. And our mission at FIST4WRD is to redefine Detroit as the world class destination it has always been by showcasing its people, purpose, our promise to pay it forward. As the saying goes, history always repeats itself, and rising from the ashes has literally become the spirit of Detroit, and what Detroiters do best. Because of that, FIST4WRD is back like we never left – just like the city we love! How will you redefine Detroit? Drop a line and let us know!

This Week in FIST4WRD.

A memorial dedicated to Detroit boxer Joe Louis, also known as The Fist, celebrated its 32nd year in the city. Meanwhile, having a seat has taken on a totally new meaning just across the way at the Joe Louis Arena. The Detroit Police Department’s officers are getting a well deserved pay increase. And apparently there’s more than one metro Detroit shopping mall with a skywalk. For your information, that’s This Week in FIST4WRD.

The Fox Theatre, also known as Detroit’s crown jewel, is recognized by Architectural Digest as Michigan’s most magnificent theater. The former flagship movie palace was once our city’s installment from the one-time national cinema chain. The venue’s visually arresting grandeur has hosted decades of spectators, with accommodations for approximately 5000. What’s your fondest memory of The Fox Theatre? FIST4WRD to leave us a line.

The Red Carpet Treatment.

It’s been decades since Detroit has hosted a movie premiere, but as the saying goes, ‘timing is everything.’ The Fox Theatre hosted the DETROIT invite-only event, with several celebrities and city-goers in attendance. FIST4WRD will be the first to admit that Detroit definitely know hows to throw a party, and although we celebrated the city’s ‘Sweet 316‘ just yesterday, this one here certainly takes the cake! Looks like The Motown Sound isn’t the city’s only claim to fame. FIST4WRD to find out who showed up and showed out.
